No. With the right teacher, teaching materials and mindset you can achieve your goal of learning Slovak to a conversational level without problems.

It depends on your current level, your native language, where you live, how much time you can spend studying a week and your language learning experience. But generally speaking, my students reach conversational fluency in one or two years if they start from zero.

For beginner and false beginner students I recommend my " Hej! A1 Complete beginner textbook" that includes grammar explanations, exercises, dialogues with natural and real language and expressions, audio recordings, answer key, dictionary and more.

If you enjoy learning by reading and listening and already know the basics, I recommend my book "Bratislava a jej príbehy" - eleven short stories at the hospital, centre, post office etc. to improve your vocabulary and comprehension.
